Write for us

Open News Insights welcomes clear, original pitches that help readers understand how news is made, framed, distributed or read. Send proposals through the Contact page; a concise outline is more useful than a finished article sent without context.

What we welcome

We are interested in explainers about reporting, headlines, sources, context and news formats. Strong contributions answer a real reader question, define necessary terms and show why a distinction matters. A pitch might compare two ways information reaches an audience or unpack a common reading habit, but it should stay focused on explanation rather than partisan persuasion.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the central question, your proposed answer, the reader who would benefit and the examples or material you would use. Explain how the piece will separate verified information from interpretation and what its limits are. Prefer a specific, evergreen subject to a broad argument or a summary of the day's headlines. Disclose relevant interests or relationships.

How to send it

Use the Contact page form and choose the editorial question option, then state that you are proposing a contribution. Include a short outline and a brief description of relevant experience if it helps us assess the pitch. Do not send confidential material or assume that a proposal has been accepted until there is an agreement.
